The primary criteria used as a tiebreaker for edge cases are the career opportunities (“Saídas Profissionais”) listed on the respective course’s website.
At first glance, your degree should be an easy fit if it falls under IT (Computer Science/Engineering, Systems and Networks Engineering), Management (Management, Accounting, Finance), Law (Law, Criminology, Legal Advisory), International Relations (International Relations), HR (Human Resources, Psychology, Sociology) or Communication (Communication and Marketing, Marketing Design).
In case your degree is considered to be an edge case or not suitable for the specific vacancies of our trainee program, you’ll receive a notification.
This doesn’t mean the end of your journey with Natixis! There are other opportunities to join, for instance, academies that are organized from time to time for career conversions.
As long as you can commit to the trainee program full-time and already have the required “Certificado de Habilitações”, it is not a problem. The usual case here would be young professionals who prioritize entering the labour market, while pursuing a Master’s degree outside of regular working hours. If the classes that are missing stand between you and your “Certificado de Habilitações”, so that you graduate, then you’ll have to wait for next year’s campaign. Since there is no part-time format for our full-time internships, you’ll have the opportunity to apply as a graduate later on, fully committing to the trainee program.
French is not mandatory. It is considered a nice to have for most positions, but only in very specific Teams is it a must-have. Also, keep in mind that you don’t need to be at a C1 level (fluent), an A2 or even A1 level already indicates a good foundation for learning.
Natixis Trainee Program has a structure of 60% onsite and 40% remote work, translating to roughly 3 days per week at the office.
The Automatic Screening runs daily and the Manual Validation feeds the shortlist of candidates that are displayed to the relevant perimeters every week. During these steps, you should be receiving automated messages keeping you up to date with what is happening.
Once you’re included in the shortlists that the Team members have access to, the waiting period becomes less regular and less predictable. If at any point you feel unsure about your progress, remember that we host live Q&A sessions every Thursday, what we call the Info Point. Our interviews play out more as conversations than traditional job interviews. The main concern of the Teams is hiring a trainee who will gradually lose interest in the internship project, so the main focus of the conversation revolves around the topic and tasks of the project and if you, as the trainee, would be interested and motivated by that topic and those tasks.
Most of our Teams have been hosting internships for 3 years now, meaning that they know the level of knowledge that candidates have when joining the company, and nobody is left facing challenges they aren’t trained to deal with. Suppose there happen to be technical questions during the conversation. In that case, it’s normally a great sign: most likely the Team is interested and already planning what could be an adequate learning curve for you during the early phases of the internship.
Besides this list of Frequently Asked Questions, we try to be as clear as possible via the automated messages that the process itself generates.

While we try to have the most relevant information on this website, there are plenty of additional resources on Natixis in Portugal page on NetworkMe. In particular, some of our career simulators can be a great source of more in-depth information.
